M m m and Kate! [ go ]

Well, since Kate decided she was only going to eat eggs this week because the hospital screwed up her paycheck;  I decided I was goign to take her out this week.  And let’s see here, went out with her on Tuesday for some AMAZING Thai at Lemon GrAss(yes, the A is capitalized) on Rt 7. I got the Himapan, it had cooked mushrooms, pineapple, tomatoes, carrots, and other stuff with beef, it was really good, the pineapple was perfect. Kate got the Vegetable Melody, which looked fine. Two problems with it:

  1. They didn’t have the little mini egg rolls that are deep fried.
  2. The rice tasted like it was over bleached, it was very odd.

So instead of those egg rolls, Kate wanted to get the “Crab Angels” which were very good, they had a more silky taste then normal crab ragoons.  I’ll have to take Sami there when she comes up before school.

And since she thought I was going to make dinner on Tuesday, I made dinner for her on Wednesday.  A little chicken covered in mayonnaise and spicey brown mustard with bread crumbs and parmesan cheese.  Cook at 400 degrees for 25ish minutes.  They were SO good!  And then tomatoes in Vinegar and Oil with salt and pepper and an onion slice on top.  And steamed fresh green beans in butter.  And a bottle of red wine, which ended up being a very good choice for not knowing anything about red wine; with their Shiraz’s and Merlot’s, Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, and Sangiovese.  Yea, just a few choices, so I had no idea what to pick, after a lady said I should get a Shiraz and Mom said to get a Cabernet Sauvignon.  I decided to go by price and design, so near the 44 dollar bottle, there was a nice 15 dollar bottle with a classy design(C.S.), it was a good choice.

Then we went to the bar; yes, we went to the bar on a Wednesday night. NO ONE was there at Ake’s Place.  There were a few old people and that was it.  It was SO eery because normally it is shoulder to shoulder, but either way, Kate and Chip got a drink and then I whooped her ass in Big Buck Hunter.  All three deer in all 5 rounds, TWICE!  So the totally tally after last week is Kate: 5 Rob: 3.  Yes, I did absolutely terrible on Saturday when I was drunk, it was a bad idea, I kept hitting Doe’s like it was my business.

Mmmmm BBQ! [ go ]

Well, tonight is going to be quite the dinner the N. Winooski Apt! Let’s see here, Dave(Pro Downhill Biker), Kevin, Chip, Kristin, Kate, and Myself will be there. I am making 6 steaks, a-la my dad’s style. And then I am going to try to make Cucumber salad and corn. It is going to be delicious! And then scrumptious Strawberry shortcake’s for dessert. And Katerina said she’ll try to make it for dessert with her pup. It is going to be a great time!

And then tomorrow I am hitting up the App Gap with Adam Linnebur.  He is going to be on his old school 1989ish GSX-R, and I’ll be on theR6, of course.  Should be a good time.  I went to the Gap on Tuesday and dragged the foot peg coming down the Bristol side(West side), that was sweet.  I need to take a picture of my chick-strips because they are almost gone, and I want to see if I get it any lower tomorrow.

And plans for the moment for the weekend is to either go to Todd and Amy’s house in Albany.  Or go to BeerFest down on the water this weekend in Burlington.  It will probably be BeerFest with the roommates and Kate and her group.  And then I am going to try to meet up with Heather at sometime.  She is supposed to be going down with a huge group of people.

Should be a good week.

Here’s My Baby! And draggin’ parts! [ go ]

Isn’t she amazing! Looks so beautiful and it is like bone stock too. But, I just bought flush mounts for the front, they came in on Monday. Tuesday I got the Custom Led brake light and blinker combo. It integrates the rear blinkers into the break light so I can make my own fender eliminator, to get rid of that HORRIBLE rear fender, elch.

And I am having a hard time deciding which helmet to get:
HJC CL-SP Apex (Red)
HJC CL-SP Osiris (Red)
HJC AC-11 LiveWire

I like the Apex the most, but the LiveWire is cheap because it is last year’s model and the Osiris is that bad looking of a helmet, but the apex will match everything best and looks the best I think.  I will probably end up buying the Apex, but help me decide.

And today!!!!  I took a ride to the APP Gap on Rt 17 in Vermont.  It was AWESOME! I went up/down it 3 times, and on the 2nd time back up to the top I dragged my left foot peg/ left foot around one of the hair pin turns.  It was SWEET!  I want to sell this bike and get a complete race bike SO bad!  But I will probably leave that until next year when I will have the time and the actual money to race.  I need to get someone who doesn’t care to just sit at the corner’s and take pictures of me.  Oh and that’s right, as I was coming to the top on my first run, there were a BUNCH of touring/cruiser bikes at the top.  And as I rounded the corner going at a good speed and getting sort of low in the turn I see one of the guys taking a picture of me.  That is SWEET!!

Oh well time for bed.

Go away, and don’t come back. [ go ]

So, I am sitting here, at work, at 4:00 on Friday, trying to figure out how to get home. As you can see from the wonderful radar map of Vermont, I am sort of stuck in a beautiful rain storm, with my bike. (Upload of picture to come). storm.JPG

Should I just wing it? Just blow through the storm and watch as the rain rips the skin off me hands? And then low and behold, the SUN erupts from behind the clouds to give a beautiful site for my eyes! So, it looks like I won’t go home soaking wet and I might be able to ride the bike home for the weekend.

Upload pictures of the bike will be coming after this weekend. For some reason I uploaded 4 of the same picture, instead of the 4 separate ones. And a little blog about the R6. Oh, I love it. And I want to race SOOO bad. I might go to Cana’der next weekend and do a little gambling if the numbers work out and try to raise a little cash for the race school. If anyone wants to donate, please paypal some money to rgehring|[at]|worldpath|[dot]|net. The school is 300 I believe, and the full leather suit I need to get, I can get used off a guy at work for 400. Thanks for the help!

 *EDIT*

So, after I wrote that post, I look outside and it is raining….  So, I had to drive home in the rain, first real storm I drove through.  And let me tell you, you try holding your fist out the window for 10 minutes plus at 60-70 mph in the rain.  Yea, totally feels like your getting shot with needles and then your skin is getting ripped off.  Not pleasant.  And it was the HUGE droplet rain, LIKE HUGE!  And then just out of Shelburne, it is sunny and nice and beautiful.  I am telling you, Vermont is WAY worse then New Hampshire.

Super Lame / Hacking The Internet [ go ]

So, Mike the one I plan on buying the R6 from is a dope. He leaves for the weekend before I can get the damn bike…. So I probably wont hear from him until Sunday. But in the mean time, it looks like I might have found another bike. 2001 Suzuki GSX-R 600. It is sweet looking

The only problem is, it is like one and a half hours from Burlington, and I really dont want to drive all the way out there.  But, I think it is way cleaner looking then the R6.  But really pictures dont help at all, because the R6 looks amazing in those pictures and it definitely has some flaws.  But, eh, we’ll see.

But, I have successfully hacked WEP.  It is actually really easy, just getting everything working correctly is a pain and getting a working wireless card.  So I have internet again after 2 weeks.

Das Bike, ya! [ go ]

So. I have found my bike to buy, I should be getting it this Friday when the check clears, or next Monday. Crossing my fingers for Friday. It is a 2000 Yamaha R6, brand new tires, Stage 1 Jet kit, new exhaust. It looks SWEET. And drives awesome. (I’ll upload pictures when we get internet at the apt.)

Justin is going to take it for a spin just before I buy it to double make sure it is all ok. And a month from yesterday I will be taking the Penguin Racing course, which I am extremely excited about! Because I will get my racing license!!!!

In other news, Sami is safe and has been back in the States for a couple of weeks now. And she is just relaxing at home for the summer saving some money so she can go back there after school. Which is awesome and I hope she is able to, I know how much she loved it out there.

Oh well, back to work.

So much to say! [ go ]

I have SO much crap to write about and no time.

  • Had my first CarBomb, they rock.
  • Kids driving tractors to school.
  • Going to the bar on a Sunday night.
  • Meeting My Neighbors and playing 4 square
  • Playing volleyball with a tow rope in the drive way
  • DRIVING MY BIKE I AM GOING TO BUY!!!! Yamaha R6!
  • Going tubing on Chip’s Boat
  • Getting tanned.. Yes, tanned, not burnt!
  • WOOHOOO!!!

Once I get internet I will elaborate. But, right now I am stuck with only having it at work, so I cant check facebook, or just about everything else; which stinks a lot. But, it is sort of nice not having the internet.

First Week [ go ]

Well, after the first week I would have to say this is going great! Goodrich is amazing and I am constantly doing something. I think it is amazing that they instantly threw me into a project on the first day after 2 hours of orientation.

First the low down, the Vergennes Goodrich is making a number of “Black Boxes,” they do different things from check the fuel level, using capacitors sort of scary, check to see if different fuel valves are open, or helping open the cabin doors if the power goes out using charges to “help” open the door. It is all pretty cool. But the group I am working with deals with the CSS, Central Server System or something like that. It receives ALL of the information from the so called black boxes and checks to make sure everything is working correctly. The cool thing about the setup is the crazy amount of redundancy, there are 2-4 sets of redundancy throughout the fuel system, it is really neat.

BUT, what I am doing is creating simulations of the “black boxes” to test the CSS because we visually cant see if the systems are working correctly when they are hooked up, so the simulation gives a visual representation of all the data. It allows us to input the data, and then see what happens with the output. So we get to check that the correct valves get shutoff, the fuel calculations are correct, if one valve is open, it wont try to open the next one and let all the fuel out. I am very happy I stayed, but I know I would have been just as happy if I had gone to China.

And the sweet thing about Goodrich is:

  • I have my own desk
  • Brand new 2gig Sandisk thumbdrive
  • Brand new Dell 3.2GHz 2gigs of ram
  • Another machine to do my simulations on
  • A sweet KVM
  • Whenever I print stuff, it first prints out MY name on the top paper
  • Everyone I work with is awesome and great to work with.

The place I am living at is very nice, everyone is extremely welcoming it is cool.  But they are all older, one is 37ish, 60ish, and the owner is around 45-55.  Sooo…. it is calm and peaceful, but it is in the woods around nothing in South Starksboro, sort of boring.  So at the end of the month I will be moving in with Jon at his apartment in Shelburne, well it is more of Burlington.  It is about 2 miles from Church St. and about 50 yards from Lake Champlain.  From the outside is looks really scary, but once you walk it, it has REALLY nice hardwood floors, a big sliding glass door to the backyard, a good size backyard too.  A big brick patio, which is probably where I will park my bike when I get it because there is no driveway, all street parking.  It will definitely be WAY sweeter then the place I am at now, and it will be cheaper too. PUMPED!

Looks like VT is in [ go ]

Well, it looks like I’ll be staying in Vergennes this summer:

HI Robert,
I did a research and checked with HR partner. We won’t be able to support your flight ticket but we can offer the service to help you searching housing rental. Please let me know if it still works for your plan and thanks for consider IBM as your personal career.
Best Regards,Jerry Tsou

Which isn’t a bad thing, it should be a lot of fun actually, I mean, I am going to party with Justine and Amanda all summer, Nick said he would come up and drink with us, it will be a blast AND I will get to buy my bike!!! I went and checked out the “apartment” last night. It is a bed room in a double wide, with a girl and her boyfriend. I met Jenn last night but Jaime is out installing docks in NY so I wont be able to meet him. But it is a perfect location, 5 minutes from Goodrich, nice people. And only an hour from Northfield and Burlington. But I guess some older guy is interested in it, and so the boyfriend wants to meet him too because he thinks I am going to hit on Jenn… lame…

So I just found two more apartments, one in Shelburne 30ish minutes away from Goodrich, and about 20 away from Burlington, and still about an hourish to Northfield. And another in Starksboro which is right between Goodrich and Northfield, about 20 minute to Goodrich. I like the idea of Shelburne, because it is in a SWEET area, and you can see the lake, it looks amazing. But I’ll try to see them on Friday/Saturday. Hopefully I can just live in the trailer, it is cheap only 400 and is all I need.
